'Star Wars' Director Josh Trank Fired? Find Out Inside Scoop Here!

It was reported last week that Josh Trank, the director of the second "Star Wars" anthology movie had decided to drop out of the movie. LucasFilm confirmed the news, and Trank himself released a statement explaining his departure from the movie.

In his statement, Trank revealed that it was a "personal decision" to leave, and that he had plans to "move forward on a different path" with "original creative opportunities. But reports have surfaced that Trank did not voluntarily give up his directorial duties, and that he was in fact fired.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Trank was given the boot because of "unusual conduct." According to the site's source, who was also working on "Fantastic Four" and the upcoming "Star Wars" movies, the director was quite difficult to work with.

He was described as "erratic" and "unclear" in his direction, and this resulted in "great challenges" in the shoot and production processes."If you've got someone who can't answer questions or who isn't sure or is in hiding, that's not good," said the insider.

Furthermore, the producers of "Fantastic Four" had to intervene at one point because of the many delays that were happening resulting from Trank's poor behavior. Simon Kinberg and Hutch Parker were reportedly "heavily involved" in the troubleshooting of some problems that were encountered when major re-shoots had to be done in the movie.

Additonally, the New Orleans home that was rented out to Trank during filming bore around $100,000 worth of property damage, because of several dogs the director owned.

Trank's directorial debut, the 2012 science fiction film, "Chronicle" was the film that first got him noticed. The movie was well received both by critics and at the worldwide box office.

"No question there's talent there," said the source from the site written above. "You can't do 'Chronicle'  by accident, [but Trank seemed] like one of those kids who comes to the NBA with all the talent and none of the character-based skills to handle it."

"There's equipment he doesn't have yet," the source concluded.
