Rebel Wilson's Real Age Confirmed; Why Did It Get Mixed Up In The First Place?

Rebel Wilson has been known by fans to be 29 years of age. However, new reports claim that she is actually 35.

The news erupted after an Australian tabloid wrote an article about the actress and claimed that she is actually 35 years old, not 29. Aside from her age, the tabloid also published Rebel's hometown where she grew up. The date of her birth is actually March 2, 1980.

Not only did Wilson lie about her age, she also lied about her real name. US Weekly reported that the Australian Electoral Roll has files of her real name, which is actually "Melanie Elizabeth Bownds," different from what she claimed before during an interview with The Australian Women's Weekly. According to the comedienne, her real name is Rebel and the names "Melanie" and "Elizabeth" were just aliases that she came up with during the times when she studied. Her "aliases" were thought off so fellow students would not have a reason to bully her with her allegedly "real" name, which turned out to be otherwise.

The recently confirmed 35-year-old comedienne took to her Twitter account to release a statement about the current issue.

"OMG I'm actually a 100 year old mermaid formerly known as 'CC Chalice,'" Rebel wrote. "Thanks shady Australian press for your tall poppy syndrome x."

"Okay but all jokes aside now...my real name is Fat Patricia x," she added.

Her "Pitch Perfect" co-star Skylar Austin, also released a statement about the issue, which Perez Hilton wrote an article about as well.

"I have no comment, not because I know anything about it," said the actor. "But because that is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. It's so rude to ask a woman her age, and to speculate about anyone's age, and Rebel's a great person, so who cares?"

As to why she lied about her age in the first place, fans and spectators are assuming that it is because of the common pressure in Hollywood that connotates that the younger a striving actress/actor is, the easier it is to sell him/her to the public.
