George R. R. Martin Rushing ‘Winds Of Winter’ Release Date; Declines Offer To Pen Script For ‘Game Of Thrones’ Season 6

From the looks of it, George R. R. Martin is looking to announce the "Winds of Winter" release date as soon as possible as he declined to write for "Game of Thrones" season 5.

According to Entertainment Weekly, George R. R. Martin is rolling up his sleeves to finish the "Winds of Winter" and rush the release date as soon as possible.

"The bestselling author once again will not contribute a script to HBO's Game of Thrones as the production preps for next season," it said. "The Thrones author previously penned an episode for seasons 1-4, then opted out of writing for the current fifth season."

In an earlier interview, George R. R. Martin said that he wanted to announce the release date for "Winds of Winter" before "Game of Thrones" season 6.

"I wish it was out now. Maybe I'm being overly optimistic about how quickly I can finish. But I canceled two convention appearances, I'm turning down a lot more interviews-anything I can do to clear my decks and get this done," he said.

As for "Winds of Winter" in danger of being overtaken by "Game of Thrones" and the release date is stil uncertain, George R. R. Martin said that fans shouldn't worry because TV shows and books are fundamentally different.

"There have been differences between the novels and the television show since the first episode of season one. And for just as long, I have been talking about the butterfly effect. Small changes lead to larger changes lead to huge changes," he wrote in his blog.

"HBO is more than forty hours into the impossible and demanding task of adapting my lengthy (extremely) and complex (exceedingly) novels, with their layers of plots and subplots, their twists and contradictions and unreliable narrators, viewpoint shifts and ambiguities, and a cast of characters in the hundreds," he added.

George R. R. Martin also said that he will announce the "Winds of Winter" release date on his blog so fans shouldn't believe any report they hear otherwise.
