Steve Martin Dad For The First Time: 'Private' Actor Is New Father at Age 67, Keeps It A Secret From Press

Steve Martin is a dad for the first time, but he doesn't want you to know that.

The 67-year-old "Parenthood" star and wild and crazy guy became a father when his wife actress Anne Stringfield, 41, star of the film "It's Complicated," gave birth in December.

However the couple made no official announcement, instead preferring their privacy.

"They've had a baby, and how they kept it a secret nobody knows," a source told the New York Post. "Steve's very private." The source added, "They are thrilled. They worked hard to have the baby."

Martin and Stringfield married in 2007 at a secret ceremony where guests, including movie stars Tom Hanks, and Diane Keaton and comic heavyweights Carl Reiner and Eugene Levy were told it was a party. Saturday Night Live creator Lorne Michaels was Martin's best man.

Considered by many to be one of the great geniuses of comedy, the actor, writer, musician, magician and former standup comic Steve Martin has written that he was never close with his own father.

When Martin's father Glenn Martin died in 2008 the actor reportedly said:

"In his death, my father . . . did something he could not do in life. He brought our family together."

A rep for the actor told the New York Post he had no comment about Martin becoming a dad.
