Sapporo Restaurant Fines Customers for Leaving Leftovers [VIDEO]

A seafood restaurant in Sapporo is reported to be fining customers that don't finish their entire meal.

Gawker reported the restaurant named Hachikyo clearly states in its menu that for anybody who doesn't finish the restaurant's signature dish, a bowl of rice topped with all-you-can-eat salmon roe, will face a surcharge.

Blogger Midori Yokoyama at Gold Rush explained, "According to the explanation in the menu, the working conditions for fishermen are harsh and so dangerous that it's not unknown for lives to be lost. To show our gratitude and appreciation for the food they provide, it is forbidden to leave even one grain of rice in your bowl. Customers who do not finish their tsukko meshi must give a donation."

The restaurant owner shared the concept has proven popular which even allowed him to open a second location in Tokyo this coming April.

Below is a video of Yokoyama's visit to the restaurant.
