Katy Perry Ring; Soon-To-Be Engaged To John Mayer [PHOTOS]

Katy Perry sported a new ring after Valentine's Day and it left people wondering if she tied the knot with boyfriend, John Mayer. While sources confirm that the singer is not engaged, despite the ring, John Mayer may still have intentions of proposing to Katy Perry eventually.

"[John Mayer is] trying so hard to prove that his bad behaviour towards women has changed now," a source said, according to the Sun, regarding why Mayer purchased the Katy Perry ring.

"He saw the ring and thought it was a perfect gift for Valentine's Day... She loved it. There's no way she's ready to get married yet so a commitment ring is perfect."

Inquisitr reports that in a recent interview Mayer also hinted that he would like to marry Perry in the future. "I mean, I'm still the kid from Connecticut. That's what you do," he said.

Perry's ruby ring was designed by Daniel Gibbings, a jeweler/designer from Santa Barbara, CA.--Perry's hometown. The jeweler confirmed that the ring is not an engagement ring, but that Mayer was "really super nice" when picking it out.

Katy Perry has married before, to British comedian and actor, Russell Brand. However, the two split after 14 months of marriage. Perry and Mayer began dating during the summer of 2012.
