Demi Lovato’s ‘Cool For The Summer’ A Rip-Off Of Katy Perry And Jessie J’s Songs? Former Disney Star Addresses Accusations

Demi Lovato's new single "Cool for the Summer" is being slammed for allegedly ripping off Katy Perry and Jessie J's songs. The former Disney star was quick to address the accusations.

According to a report from Entertainment Tonight, fans criticized Demi Lovato's "Cool for the Summer" for having a theme similar to Katy Perry's "I Kissed A Girl."

"It's okay/I'mma little curious too / Tell me if it's wrong / If it's right / I don't care / Got a taste for the cherry / I just need to take a bite," Demi Lovato sings in her new track.

Fans posted about the similarities.

"Did I just listen to Demi Lovato new song or a Katy Perry one? I'm confused," wrote a Twitter user named Yung Rachu.

Listeners also pointed out how a part from Demi Lovato's "Cool for the Summer" sounds a lot like Jessie J's hit track "Domino."

"The chorus of cool for the summer sounds like a rip off of domino! @JessieJ sue her!" tweeted a user named Sarah in the Jurro.

According to a report from Perez Hilton, Demi Lovato quickly addressed "Cool in the Summer" being compared to Katy Perry's "I Kissed A Girl."

"[Cool in the Summer] sounds nothing like [I Kissed A Girl]," Demi Lovato said via Twitter. "With all the advances we've made in the LGBT community, I think more than one female artist can kiss a girl and like it."

According to a report from Hollywood Life, Demi Lovato first unveiled "Cool for the Summer" by posting its sexy cover art on her Instagram page last week. The image showed the 22-year-old wearing a teal cutout swimsuit, yellow high heels and a blue fur jacket.

"My new single is called #CoolForTheSummer and will be out July 1!!!!!!! AHHHHHHHH," she wrote on her Instagram announcement.

Prior to Demi Lovato's "Cool for the Summer," her last release was a collaboration with Cher Lloyd entitled "Really Don't Care" back in 2014.
