Blake Shelton's Wife Miranda Lambert Heartbroken With Gig Cancellation; Country Singer Promises To Be Back In Calgary After Vocal Cords Heal

Miranda Lambert had to cancel her Calgary performance on Thursday as Blake Shelton's wife suffered an injury to her vocal cords rendering her voiceless.

The official diagnosis was "serious inflammation of her vocal cords, said Radio.com.

A statement issued by Miranda Lambert said, "I'm so sorry that I can't be at Stampede this week but I'll be back in Calgary just as soon as I can for all of my Stampede fans."

The Calgary Stampede is popular festival lasting 10-days and features a rodeo, monster trucks, agricultural displays, cooking contests and musicians. Although Miranda Lambert won't be there, her husband Blake Shelton will hopefully make up the slack as he performs along with other artist like Stevie Wonder and Jason Aldean.

The producers of Calgary Stampede, however, are confident that Miranda Lambert can still perform at some point in time.

Adam Oppenheim, managing director of Stampede Entertainment, said, "We are working hard with Miranda's camp to try and get a rescheduled date and we believe that it's very likely we'll get that."

As to when that would be, he said, "It's hard to say for sure, we don't have an update on her condition, but the cancellation was physician-mandated so we'll have to wait and see."

Calgary was only supposed to be the only stop for Blake Shelton's wife in her scheduled summer tour across 11 locations in the US. Hopefully, Miranda Lambert can come back to Calgary in August or September during a break in her tour.

"We can do refunds right now, especially for fans that have come from out of town, but they don't think they'll be able to come back," he said.

Although Stampede organizers expected a reduction in ticket sales with the economy, both the performances of Miranda Lambert and her husband, Blake Shelton, have been sold out.

"Miranda was a sell out, but sometimes they hold onto a few tickets until they have more information about stage set up, and then they release a few more," the spokesperson said.
