Geroge R.R. Martin Admits Feeling 'A Little Sad' For Missing Comic Con As Author Rushes Work; 'Winds Of Winter' Release Date One Them?

George R.R. Martin seems committed to rush the "Winds of Winter" release date as he missed the San Diego Comic-Con to work on his novel.

In a blog post, the author seemed bummed that he couldn't make it to the event and had to spend home alone. Nevertheless, he insisted that it was the right decision to skip San Diego Comic-Con to join the "Game of Thrones" panel for HBO.

"I just got back from Chicago and the Dead shows, and before that it was Europe, and it is hardly as if HBO needed me in San Diego to represent... not with so much of our cast on hand," he wrote in his blog.

"I have so much work to do, I am way behind on everything, and I have a wedding to attend in Jersey in a few weeks, and worldcon after that... and if truth be told, San Diego has gotten overwhelming in recent years. There are always good times catching up with friends, and hanging with the cast, but it's not as if I can walk the floor anymore and look for old comic books, the way I once did," he added.

"Even so... even so... it does make me a little sad, not being there," the author ended.

George R.R. Martin is the first to admit that he's got a lot on his plate which is why the "Winds of Winter" release date is delayed.

In the comments section, a manager of a "Game of Thrones" fansite has asked the author for an interview, which George R. R. Martin replied, "Thanks, but I am not doing interviews just now, and I never do email interviews. Maybe when WINDS OF WINTER is done."

In a previous interview with Entertainment Weekly, George R.R. Martin did say that he wants to announce the "Winds of Winter" release date before "Game of Thrones" season 6.

"I wish it was out now. Maybe I'm being overly optimistic about how quickly I can finish. But I canceled two convention appearances, I'm turning down a lot more interviews-anything I can do to clear my decks and get this done," he said.
