Sharon Stone's Former Housekeeper Files Lawsuit: Claims She Was Fired Over Back Injury

Sharon Stone's former housekeeper filed a wrongful termination lawsuit against the actress Monday in the Los Angeles Superior Court for allegedly firing her over a back injury.

TMZ reported that in July, Angelica Castillo injured her back while loading groceries into Stone's vehicle causing her extreme and severe physical pain.

In August, Castillo's suit claims that her doctor ordered that she "undertake a brief period of bed rest," but that "Stone denied Castillo's request for a brief period of bed rest, and told her that she would have to come in to work that day."

"During this time, other employees were present at the residence and could have assisted with the lifting and moving, but were not allowed to do so," the suit says, and that in October 2012, while still experiencing painful symptoms, "Stone repeatedly yelled at Plaintiff for performing her duties more slowly, and called her 'crazy' and 'stupid.'"

When Castillo requested that she take medical leave, Stone reportedly fired her.According to California state worker's compensation law, "it is illegal for your employer to punish or fire you for having a job injury or for requesting workers' compensation benefits when you believe your injury was caused by your job."

The Basic Instinct star's attorney Marty Singer however tells TMZ "[This lawsuit] is bizarre and ridiculous. Ms. Castillo was never fired, and as of today is still covered by health insurance as an employee of Ms. Stone. We are confident that Ms. Stone will prevail in this meritless case."

This is not the first time an employee has filed a lawsuit against Stone. In May, Filipino raised Erlinda T. Elemen alleged that she was subject to racial slurs from Stone and was terminated in a dispute over overtime pay.
