Sarah Harding's 'Coronation Street' Hopes Dashed; Singer Axed From Show After Four Episodes?

Sarah Harding axed from "Coronation Street"? That's what it looks like, according to sources.

When news came out that Harding would be joining the long-running ITV soap opera as Joni for four episodes, the singer was ecstatic, but she also expressed worries scoring a [regular] role.

The former Girls Aloud singer was set to play the feisty rival of Tracy Barlow (played by Kate Ford), and the singer claimed she felt like an "amateur" on the set.

It appears that the singer was optimistic for her career as a soap star.

However, her stint on the show has just ended, and Daily Mail has learned that it will not be extended past the four episodes originally intended for her.

Her screen-time in Weatherfield this past week earned a slew of negative comments on social media from fans who held nothing back in expressing their two cents about her acting skills.

One fan told her she would never be as good as Kym Marsh who plays Michelle Connor on "Coronation Street". Marsh was a former Hear'Say singer who jumped to a career in acting.

Another fan said her acting "stinks to high heaven" while another fan tweeted, "Sarah Harding in #Corrie is hurting me."

The Sun learned that Sarah Harding has "absolutely no chance" of returning to "Coronation Street".

"It's safe to say Sarah's Corrie career hasn't gone as planned," a source said. "Fans and critics have been pretty unimpressed with her acting."

"It doesn't reflect well on Corrie, who have been accused of chasing ratings with gimmicks. They will not be getting her back and the general consensus on set is that this was a failed experiment," the source added.

Meanwhile, a spokesman for "Coronation Street" seemed to have dashed Sarah Harding's "Coronation Street" hopes.

"Sarah was cast for four episodes in a cameo role for a specific storyline. There are no immediate plans for the character of Joni to return," the spokesman said.
