Wrong Woman Buried After California Mortuary Mix-Up, 'It's Unbelievable'; Offers to Exhume Body & Pay Funeral Expenses [VIDEO]

A wrong woman was buried after a miscommunication at Inglewood mortuary.

Family and friends gathered at a funeral and burial on March 1 for 82-year-old Darlene Davidson. 73-year-old Evans Davidson complained at her viewing that the woman in the casket wasn't his wife. However morticians at Simpson's Mortuary believed it was his wife of 51 years.

A few days after the funeral, Davidson's family was told that their mother left Simpson's Family Mortuary, after another family claimed a body switch, that their relative wasn't in their casket.

"I was already torn apart and then...this. It's unbelievable," said Davidson's son, Eric Haynes.

Haynes mentioned that the family actually did mention to mortuary officials of something wrong during the viewing.

"The mortician, the guy that dresses them, he convinced us that was her," he said.

"In this case, there was an error made and we are diligently working with both families to be in resolve," said Reginald Black, a spokesman for the mortuary.

The mortuary offered to exhume her body and pay all expenses for both families to hold a proper funeral.

Davidson will now be buried Wednesday. Her family and their attorney were present on Monday at the mortuary to make sure the correct body was in the casket.

The Cemetery and Funeral Bureau is investigating the incident.
