Baptism Party Brawl Stabber Sentenced To Less Than One Year In Prison After Killing A Man Who Asked His Wife To Dance

A California man was sentenced to less than a year in jail for stabbing a man who tried to dance with his wife at a baptism celebration, the Associated Press reported Tuesday.

Yasmani Ramirez, 28, of Redwood City, Cali. pleaded no contest and was ordered to pay about $1,000 in restitution, for what happened at the "Baptism Party Brawl," the San Francisco Chronicle reported Tuesday.

Back in November, Ramirez was at a baptism party when another man in his 20s allegedly touched his wife on her back and asked her to dance.

Ramirez wasn't too fond of that and began to argue with the man. As the dispute got heated, he allegedly pulled out a knife and stabbed the man once in the stomach.

He also cut the victim several times on his arms when the victim tried to shield his face, authorities said.

"These are relatively young people - testosterone is still running rampant in them," said San Mateo County prosecutor Steve Wagstaffe. "It turned into a couple of wild male elk in mating season locking horns - except for one party, the horns were a knife."

Authorities have placed a hold on Ramirez, who is an illegal immigrant. Authorities could start the deportation proceedings when he is released.
