'Arrow' Season 4 Spoilers: Oliver Dips Hands In Politics? New Villain Introduced Via Flashbacks

Does Mayor Oliver Queen have a nice ring to it? "Arrow" season 4 spoilers hint of a political campaign in the next few episodes as a new villain is introduced.

Comic Book Resources pointed out the hint that the showrunners of the TV series that one of the subplots to be expected by fans this season "will involve a political campaign of some sort involving special guest star Jeri Ryan.

"This led to speculation that the popular TV series might adapt a popular comics storyline that saw Oliver elected as the mayor of Star City and run the city while secretly fighting crime as Green Arrow," the article said.

"It wouldn't be the first time that Arrow tackled a political campaign plotline. Oliver's mother ran for office in Season 2 before her campaign was cut shot after Deathstroke killed her."

The Den of Geek observed that episode 2 of "Arrow" season 4 is titled "The Candidate" as shared by Marc Guggenheim.

It said that Jeri Ryan's character Jessica Danforth would probably be the candidate, instead of Oliver Queen based on the casting call description.

The casting call described Danforth as "a mayoral candidate who is deeply committed to her city and willing to risk her life to stand up for the people...a peer and an old friend of the late Moira Queen, and was once close with Oliver and Thea."

Meanwhile, Variety dished some season 4 spoilers for "Arrow" as it reported that Ryan Robbins ("Falling Skies") has scored a recurring role as one of the villains who will make an appearance in episode three.

The report said, "Robbins will play Conklin, a sadistic and ruthless member of Shadowspire who will be an adversary for Oliver (Stephen Amell) in the flashback sequences."

"The show's flashback arc will also see the titular hero take on Jimmy Akingbola's Baron Reiter (aka Baron Blitzkrieg in DC Comics Canon), who is the leader of Shadowspire."

Watch out for more "Arrow" season 4 spoilers here as the show premieres on CW on Oct. 7.
