'24' Movie Dead, Not Happening Says Director Antoine Fuqua, 'I Don’t Think It’s Gonna Happen At All'

Sad news for the "24" fans as the widely successful series project that was to bring it to the big screen is now dead.

Kiefer Sutherland expected to reprise his role of Jack Bauer in the much-rumored movie adaptation of the Fox action series that ended in 2010.

"Training Day" director Antoine Fuqua has been interested in the project since signing up last year however told Indiwire, "I don't think it's gonna happen at all, definitely not with me. I met with Kiefer [Sutherland]. Fox wanted to do it. It was a matter of his schedule before he went off to do his new show [Touch]."

"I don't think he was able to get a proper agreement with Fox," Fuqua said. According to various reports, Sutherland wanted more money than Fox was willing to pay. "The time just passed, and I went off to go to what I was doing."

"24" executive Howard Gordon last year stated that main issues of the film's delay is regarding Sutherland's involvement in the Fox drama "Touch," which began their second season last month.

The long-waited "24" film version was reportedly to see Jack Bauer traveling to Europe in the first of a potential trilogy that will take place six months after the show finale in 2010.

Sutherland two years ago said that screenplay penned by Billy Ray would ditch the famous "real-time" aspect of the show, instead of presenting 24 hours in Bauer's life over a two-hour running time. It was reportedly to begin production in eight months' time back in April 2012.

Fuqua is currently working on the boxing drama "Southpaw" and is developing biopics of Miles Davis and Tupac Shakur.
