Poker Champ Arrested: Greg Raymer & 5 Others Busted in Prostitution Sting in Wake Forest

World Series of Poker champ was arrested earlier this week in North Carolina for allegedly soliciting prostitution online.

Raymer known as "Fossil Man" was one of six men after he responded to a fake online advertisement by an undercover officer on a website frequently used by prostitutes. He was one of six men apprehended at the hotel sting set up on Wednesday, March 13.

Police Chief Jeffrey Leonard said in a statement, "In this instance, we conducted the operation at a local hotel with its full cooperation ... We are not aware of this type of criminal activity ever occurring at the hotel. Our officers selected the hotel for the undercover operation at random."

The 48-year-old poker champ was charged with misdemeanor prostitution and attempted crimes against nature. He has been released on a $1,000 bond and scheduled to return to court on April 18.

Raymer rose to fame in 2004 when he won the grand prize at the World Series Poker claiming $5 million prize. Since then, Raymer went on to win money at a variety of poker tournaments and now operates a poker training school called Fossilman Poker Training.

Poker champ has been reportedly married since 1994 and has a 17-year-old daughter.
