Carnie Wilson Diagnosed With Nerve Disorder Bell’s Palsy

Carnie Wilson revealed on Twitter that she was diagnosed with the nerve disorder Bell's Palsy.

"Just wanted you all [to] know that I have Bell's Palsy on the [left] side of face right now. Scary, unfortunate, but it goes away. A challenge! Love [you,]" she tweeted on March 13.

Followers of Carnie Wilson on Twitter posted comments offering support to the 44-year-old singer and mother of two.

Steve Spears wrote, "Praying for you, mama! If you need to talk, I'm here for you! Sending love and positive thoughts your way!"

"Oh my love I hope it's better soon," tweets Casey Stratton.

Francesca Favaloro posted, "Hope you recover soon! Sending prayers your way."

Wilson responded to her Twitter followers thanking them and saying, "Don't be scarred. It's about stress management!!! Xoxo."

Bell's Palsy is a nerve disorder that can cause paralysis on one side of the face. The nerve damage can cause your face to droop and often looks like a stroke.

Web MD says the disorder can appear "suddenly, often over night and usually gets better on its own within a few weeks."

The website also says the causes of Bell's Palsy are unclear but it is believed by some to come from the same herpes virus that causes cold sores.

The condition is usually not treated with any medication because the disorder will clear itself up in 1 to 2 months. Rare cases where the disorder does not go away will be treated with a corticosteroid.

Yesterday Wilson was back on Twitter posting, "12 days out of Bell's and doing much better! All your wishes have warmed my heart and it's making me heal faster! Yay!"

Carnie Wilson is the daughter of Beach Boy Brain Wilson and member of the band 'Wilson Phillips."

Carnie Wilson and her sister Wendy along with friend Chynna Phillips started the group. They released two albums, had 3 number 1 singles and 6 top 20 hits before breaking up in 1993.

The group reformed in 2004 releasing a third album comprised of cover songs from the 60's and 70's.
