Singer Michelle Shocked Slurs Gay Marriage Saying “God Hates Fags”

While performing her second set at Yoshi's in San Francisco folk singer Michelle Shocked told the audience, "God hates fags."

In between songs Shocked took a minute to talk about Prop 8. It is a law in California nullifying any gay marriages preformed in the state. Prop 8 is currently under review by the Supreme Court.

In her slur about gay-marriage Shocked told the audience, "When they stop Prop 8 and force priests at gunpoint to marry gays, it will be the downfall of civilization, and Jesus will come back. You can go to Twitter and say, 'Michelle Shocked said God hates fags."

People did go on Twitter to verbally berate the Folk singer. People left posts on Twitter saying Shocked's remarks were bigoted and prejudice.

Username Anile tweeted on Shocked's page, "Get back on your meds girl! Jesus said love one another not hate. You should be ashamed."

Victoria Mumby posted, "It is wrong however this woman has a world arena to peddle her hate.

One extreme, explicative laced Twitter post called for Michelle Shocked to kill herself.

Shocked referred to the rapture or the end of the world when she addressed the San Francisco audience about gay marriage. But she may have brought about the end of her career instead. 10 venues she was booked to play have canceled her shows.
