Ted Danson Renews Contract With ‘CSI’ For 2 Years; CBS Confirms Return Of ‘Crime Scene Investigation’ For 14th Season

CBS has renewed and extended the contract of Ted Danson for CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.

By extension, CBS confirmed that crime drama CSI, along with Danson, would be renewed for the 2013-14 season.

Ted Danson's original two-year deal for his role on CSI was set to expire this season, but Danson has reportedly signed another two-year contract.

Danson has earned over $200,000 per episode of the hit investigative drama, according to Deadline.

Ted Danson joined the cast of the crime drama in 2011 as D.B. Russell. Russell was a new supervisor who previously led a Seattle crime lab. He replaced original star William Peterson.

Also returning for the 2013-14 CSI season are Elisabeth Shue, George Eads, Jorja Fox, Eric Szmanda, paul Guilfoyle, Robert David Hall, Wallace Langham, Elisabeth Harnois, David Berman and Jon Wellner.

With this approaching season, CSI will have run for 14 seasons.

However, the spinoffs spawned from CSI's success haven't done quite as well as the original.

CSI: Miami ended last May and CSI: NY is expected to end in May of this year, which makes the original the only CSI set to air next season.

CBS Entertainment president Nina Tassler said, "The writers and producers have done an amazing job evolving CSI, reinventing the show around an incredible leading man in Ted Danson, the acclaimed Elisabeth Shue and our beloved and talented core of original cast members."

"CSI is one of the top global franchises and is seen in almost every country of the world," added president of CBS TV Studios David Stapf.

CSI recently won the International TV Audience Award for being the most watched show in the world. The drama has remained number 1 in its time slot, Weds. 10pm, in total viewers.

CSI is produced by Anthony Zuiker, Jonathan Littman, Louis Milito, Ann Donahue, William Peterson and Cindy Chvatal.
