Yoko Ono Tweets Pic Of Lennon’s Bloody Glasses, Worn When Shot, On 44th Wedding Anniversary

The controversial widow of the Late John Lennon, Yoko Ono, marked what would have been their 44th wedding anniversary by tweeting a picture of the bloody glasses Lennon was wearing when he was shot.

In the twitter pic, the blood soaked glasses sit on a table in front of a window over looking New York City. The caption above the glasses read, "Over 1,057,000 people have been killed by guns since John Lennon was shot and killed December 8, 1980."

The blood stained specs picture and the strong anti-gun message Ono tweeted comes at a time in America when the gun control debate is at its peak. One cannot hear the words gun control and not think back to the December 2012 shooting at the Sandy Hook Elementary School.

The Sandy Hook shooting took place on December 14, 2012, just six days after the 33rd anniversary of John Lennon's death.  It should be interesting to see if anti-gun control lobbyists have any response to Yoko Ono's Twitter photo.

Ono quickly posted several tweets after posting the photo of the bloody glasses.

"31,537 people are killed by guns in the USA every year. We are turning this beautiful country into a war zone."

"Together, let's bring back America, the green land of peace."

Finally Yoko Ono tweeted, "The death of a loved one is a hollowing experience. After 33 years, our son Sean and I still miss him. Yoko Ono Lennon."

Followers of Yoko Ono on Twitter left comments about the bloody glasses.

Tommy Allen writes, "That is a powerful image. I am assuming these are the glasses John was wearing the night he was gunned down? Haunting, sad."

"Really impressive picture, I'm so glad to follow [his] legacy of peace, love and unity," posted Claudiodentiz.

Yoko Ono was standing with her husband, former Beatle John Lennon, when Mark Chapman shot him in the back.

Chapman was up for parole in August of 2012. The New York State Department of Correction released a transcript of Chapman's parole hearing.

"It was a selfish act and I deeply regret it. I'm sorry for my crime," Chapman told the parole board. He was denied parole the following day.

Yoko Ono and John Lennon had a controversial marriage. But, they dedicated themselves to peace and love and were outspoken in advocating the end of the Vietnam War.  Many Beatles' fans blamed Ono for the band's break up.
