After 12 Years Together My Chemical Romance Breaks Up And Bids “So Long and Goodnight” To Fans (VIDEO)

The emo/punk-rock/alternative band My Chemical Romance (MCR) has broken up after releasing 4 studio albums and spending 12 years together.

The band released a statement on their website saying,

"Being in this band for the past 12 years has been a true blessing. We've gotten to go places we never knew we would. We've been able to see and experience things we never imagined possible. We've shared the stage with people we admire, people we look up to, and best of all, our friends. And now, like all great things, it has come time for it to end. Thanks for all of your support, and for being part of the adventure.

My Chemical Romance was founded in New Jersey by lead singer Gerard Way; his little brother Mikey on bass, Ray Toro on guitar, Frank Iero also on guitar and drummer Matt Pelissier, would also join the band.

Gerard Way was an artist working for the Cartoon Network but he was unhappy with his career path. After witnessing the horrific events that took place on September 11, 2001 Way decided life was too short not to be happy. He left his job with Cartoon Network and started a band.

My Chemical Romance released their first album I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love in 2002. It was their second album Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge that brought the band well deserved fame and success.

The album was different from what was out there at the time. Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge was written like a movie. The story goes like this, a couple is murdered and the man's soul sent to hell. He becomes an agent of the devil in order to be reunited with the soul of his love. The man finds out he has been tricked by the devil and the woman is really alive.

In 2005 the single Helena won a Kerrang Award for best video. The band has won numerous other award for their second and third albums.

Their second album saw the replacement of drummer Matt Pelisser with Bob Bryar. The band released a DVD in 2005 called Life On The Murder Scene. In it Frank Iero says, "If there is a God I thank him everyday for Bob."

Bryar left the band in 2010 but the band did not offer an official reason.

My Chemical Romance released what would be their last studio album Danger Day: The True Lives Of The Fabulous Killjoys in 2010.

During their 12-year run My Chemical Romance has enjoyed enormous commercial success. The death-obsessed band has toured all over the world; join their friends and mentors Green Day on tour in 2005.

MCR has released no official cause for the break up. Fans took to the bands Facebook page, which currently has 10,227,480, likes and expressed their sadness over the disbandment of their favorite group. They also took the time to thank the band for influencing their lives.

Taylor Greendaylover Owen writes, "I wanna cry right now," and Kelvin Man says, "We will always be an MCRarmy."

MoMo Addams says, "The first ever rock band I loved. Thank you for all the amazing tunes but I can't say I'm happy you guys split up."

"Your music helped me fight through heartbreak and gave me the soundtrack for my happiest moments. Thank you guys for everything you've done," posted Katja Karczewski.
