Father Kills Son, Himself: Pennsylvania Man Shoots Wife, 2-Year-Old Son, Himself After Argument

58-Year-old father Kenneth Ayers shot and killed his 2-year-old son Michael and then himself after getting into an argument with his son's mother Saturday morning.

Ayers and his estranged wife, Hollie Joe shared custody of their son. They were meeting at Ayers' mother's house so Kenneth could pick up the boy. Hollie Joe had an order of protection against her husband, but Ayers was still allowed to see their son.

Instead of taking his son out for the day, Ayers and Hollie Joe got into an argument, which resulted in Ayers shooting his wife and his son.

Ayers shot his estranged wife in the leg and then turned the gun on his son Michael. The father killed the 2-year-old and then attempted to leave with his body, according to ABC News.

When Hollie Joe saw Ayers trying to take her son's body away in the back of the truck, she ran to him and was able to retrieve her son's corpse. Ayres then shot at the woman again, hitting her in the face. He also shot at as his own mother, who was at the house the whole time.

After he killed his son and wounded his wife, Ayers drove to a wooded area in Warriors Mark Township, Pennsylvania and killed himself. Police found his body several hours after he killed his son.

ABC News said Hollie Joe is expected to survive her injuries. The investigation into the shooting is still going on. Police are looking to determine if drugs or alcohol had anything to do with Ayers shooting his son then himself.
