Sofia Vergara Goes Blonde: 'Modern Family' Star Returns To Blonde Roots, Gives Up Brunette Locks

Modern Family star Sofia Vergara has gone blonde. Vergara returned to her natural blonde hair color after spending many years as a brunette.

Sofia Vergara posted a twitter picture revealing her new blonde locks, along with the message, "Blond ambitions!! Gracias to the amazing Kelly Klain I'm ready for summer!"

Although many fans thought the Columbian beauty was a natural brunette, Vergara actually was born with light blonde locks. She kept her hair its natural blonde color while she was a host for the Spanish-language station Univision.

Since she started landing roles on television in the United States, and especially as Gloria on Modern Family, Vergara has kept her hair dark.

Vergara talked to Self magazine in 2010 about her hair, "When I started acting, I would go to auditions and they didn't know where to put me because I was voluptuous and had the accent - but I had blonde hair."

"It was ignorance: They thought every Latin person looks like Salma Hayek. The moment I dyed my hair dark, it was, 'Oh, she's the hot Latin girl.' I loved it. I'd always felt a little 'too much' as a blonde, like a big-mouth version of Pamela Anderson. Being brunette toned me down a bit," she explained.

Perhaps Vergara opted to go back to her light locks for her rumored upcoming role in the remake of 1986's "Heat." The Hollywood Reporter claimed that Vergara is in talks to star alongside Jason Statham in the coming action movie.

Fans responded to Vergara's big blonde reveal on Twitter, with overwhelmingly positive reactions.
