Rogue Dentist HIV: 7,000 Patients Exposed to HIV Over Poor Sterilization Practices in Oklahoma [VIDEO]

A rouge dentist may have infected at least one patient with HIV and an investigation revealed that he has exposed over 7,000 patients to HIV, hepatitis B or hepatitis C from poor sterilization practices.

Dr. Wayne Harrington, an oral surgeon with a practice in Tulsa, Oklahoma is investigated by the Oklahoma Board of Dentistry and during their unannounced visit on March 18, allegedly uncovering the use of rusty implements medications that expired as far back as 1993, also discovered unlicensed workers dosing and administering medications to patients.

Susan Rogers, executive director of the state Board of Dentistry explained, "This is an unprecedented event. To my knowledge, this has never happened before as far as a public notification of a (hepatitis C) case involving a dental office."

Kaitlin Snider, a spokeswoman for Tulsa Health Department said it will be challenge to find and locate all the patients who may have been posed to the unsafe practices in Harrington's office.

"It's uncertain how long these practices may have been in place... He's been practicing for 36 years."

The rouge dentists was accused by the board of "being a menace to the public health by reason of practicing dentistry in an unsafe or unsanitary manner."
