Michael Crabtree Says He Lost Vision During 49ers Goal-Line Drive That Could Have Won The Team The Super Bowl

Michael Crabtree said that he temporarily lost sight during the San Francisco 49ers final offensive drive to win the Super Bowl in February.

The wide receiver told the NFL Network Thursday that he took a shot from Baltimore Ravens cornerback Jimmy Smith, which caused Crabtree to temporarily lose his vision.

"When the guy hit me, he hit me all in the face," Crabtree told NFL Network. "I'm not tripping. I'm not one to whine about nothing, but he hit me all in the face and I couldn't really see after he hit me."

The 49ers targeted Crabtree on three consecutive downs at the Ravens' 5-yard-line. San Francisco failed to score and take the lead, thus losing Super Bowl XLVIII.

When Colin Kaepernick took over the starting quarterback job for the Niners, Crabtree became one his favorite targets. The wideout had 15 receptions in two postseason games leading up to the Super Bowl, which he had five receptions for 109 yards and a touchdown before losing sight.

"They hit me, I really couldn't see. ... Then [my vision] just came back. It's not concussion-like. When you get hit in football, it's going to feel like you can't see. It's going to feel intense. But it snapped back. It happens all the time in football.

The 2012 season was Crabtree's best yet. For the first time, he recorded more than a 1,000 receiving yards.
