Lena Headey Broke? Cersei Lannister Of HBO’s ‘Game Of Thrones’ Claims She Has “Less Than $5 In Her Bank Account,” Living Off Credit

Lena Headey, although she plays royalty on television, claims she is broke in real life.

Lena Headey, best known for playing Cersei Lannister on HBO's "Game Of Thrones" told TMZ that her financial situation is so terrible that she has "less than $5 in her bank account." She added that she is desperately waiting for her tax refund to cover general living expenses.

Contributing to Headey's financial issues, the actress is in the middle of a difficult divorce from her husband of five years, Peter Loughran. She is also fighting with Loughran for custody of their 2-year-old son, Wylie.

TMZ reported that Headey recently filed legal papers in response to Loughran's demands for half of their $46,000 tax refund from 2011. Lena Headey claims that she needs at least $6,000 of the money to pay for daily expenses, since she is currently living off credit cards.

A judge denied Loughran's request for half of the tax return and threw out Headey's proposal to give her ex $6,000 to cover his own expenses and to place the rest in a blocked bank account until their divorce is settled.

Lena Headey put her three-bedroom Hollywood Hills home on the market for $1.35 million this past May. It sold at that price in November, and she took a loss of $450,000; she originally purchased it for $1.8 million in 2008.

The actress "expects to receive acting income in the near future," according to TV Guide, but that doesn't solve her immediate financial issues.

Headey's starring role on a hit TV show makes her financial problems confusing. Headey also has a new movie out in theaters next month titled "The Purge" with Ethan Hawke. "Game Of Thrones" airs on HBO on Sunday nights at 9:00 p.m. Eastern Time.
