Kelly Ripa Hasn't Spoken To Regis Philbin Since He Left 'Live' Last Year: The Former Co-Hosts Don't Keep In Touch, She Says [VIDEO]

Kelly Ripa says she hasn't spoken to her former "Live" co-host Regis Philbin, since he departed from the show last year.

"I haven't seen him, no," Kelly told the Hollywood Reporter on Thursday.

Ripa, who stepped in for Philbin's longtime television partner Kathy Lee Gifford in 2001, also spoke about the similarities between Regis and her new co-host Michael Strahan.

"Well they're both incredible storytellers," Kelly said. "They are both fiercely competitive, and they're both incredible football players."

We can only assume that last part is a joke.

Ripa tried out 59 potential Regis replacements on the air, before deciding on Strahan back in December, according to the Huffington Post.

The star-studded list of Philbin fill-ins included Neil Patrick Harris, Alec Baldwin, Kim Kardashian and Jerry Seinfeld, before she decided on Strahan, former New York Giants player.

""It's so nice to have a co-host literally sweep you off your feet," Ripa said. "I know that he can bench press me if he wanted to."

The Hollywood Reporter interviewed Ripa on Thursday, after she and Strahan made the publication's annual list of the 35 Most Powerful People in Media released the day before.

In addition to revealing the gap between her and Regis, Kelly offered her thoughts on disgraced politician Anthony Weiner possibly entering the New York City mayoral race.

"I say why not?" Ripa said. "I love a political Cinderella story."
