Adele Turns Down Huge 7-Figure Book Deal Because She’s “Far Too Young” To Write Her Memoir

Adele was offered a very generous book contract by HarperCollins - and turned it down. The singer, 24, was offered seven figures to spill her soul on the page instead of the stage - and says she's not ready.

Adele doesn't believe she has enough experience to write a book yet. The star does, however, have an Oscar, nine Grammys, and about $46 million to her name. She also has a son with a mystery name, so perhaps she's used to making strange choices.

She has been planning a 50's themed wedding to philanthropist Simon Konecki later this summer. Insiders in the know about the romantic, vintage-themed gala say she "won't wear black", as she always does, and will have "all her favorite home-cooked food". It's to take place in a church near her home in Sussex, but her estranged dad probably won't be invited.

A source close to Adele who spoke to UK paper The Mirror about the book deal said, "Adele's never been a really showy person. So it was always going to take a lot to get her to write her life story anyway.

"But even though she received a lucrative offer, her primary concern was that she doesn't want to write a book about just 24 years. She feels she'd rather wait until she has more life experience to write about."

Some have speculated that Adele doesn't want to pen her memoir because she struggles with severe stage fright. Although she's comfortable experssing herself intimately through metaphor and song, her stage fright might mean she doesn't want to share intimate details of her life with the public eye.

Adele has apparently been approached by a handful of publishers, and HarperCollins presented a big chunk of change to her management team, but the crooner wants to focus on the future for now, rather than her past. The source said, "She'd never say never."

Still, the singer has enough on her plate for now with a busy schedule and some recent struggles with her voice and health. Her album, '21', continues to sell well currently, years after its release. She nabbed an Oscar this year in the Best Song category for "Skyfall", the theme song to the Sam Mendes James Bond film with the same title. See her performance the video below:
