Shakira Asks Judge To Throw Out $250M Lawsuit By Ex-Boyfriend Who Claims She Owes Him Her Success

Antonio de la Rue, the son of the former president of Argentina and ex-boyfriend to superstar Shakira, has filed a $250M lawsuit against the singer claiming she owes her success to him.

Shakira responded by asking a judge to throw out the $250M lawsuit, arguing that her ex is lying.

Antonio de la Rue has brought the $250M lawsuit against Shakira claiming she owes him the money for inspiring her mega hits "Hips Don't Lie" and "Waka, Waka." Shakira says that she built her career on her own and that her ex needs to drop the lawsuit and get over her.

The Daily News quoted the court filing and Shakira as saying de la Rue was "one of my numerous advisers."

The court filing goes on to say, "though he lacked experience or knowledge of the music industry, in 2005, at his request, I decided to involve (de la Rue) in some matters relating to the business because he was unemployed."

De la Rue was unemployed because he exiled himself from Argentina after his father was forced to resign as president the South American country. Before working with Shakira, de la Rue was a lawyer.

In the back and forth battle involving Shakira, de la Rue and the $250M lawsuit de la Rue keeps saying that he was doing Shakira a favor by working with her, not the other way around.

De la Rue also claims that Shakira was fine with him continuing to work with her after their break up until problems began to arise with Shakira's new flame.

Shakira decided to go after de la Rue by filing her own lawsuit against him. In it Shakira claims her ex "misappropriated" 3 million dollars of her money.

The lawsuits filed by both Shakira and de la Rue are still being reviewed. There is no information yet as to whether or not the judge will comply with the singer's request and throw out the $250M lawsuit.
