Korn New Album Incoming; Band Talks About Playing Debut Record Live On Tour
A new album from Korn is coming and guitarist of the band James Shaffer revealed what fans should expect from the record.
In an interview conducted earlier this year by Pop Break, Shaffer revealed their plans and revealed how they expect heavier riffs and a dirtier sound that could be compared to the early sound the band put up together.
"Keep the melodic elements of what we captured on the last record but really expand on the heavy riffs and get a bit dirtier," the musician who is also known as Munky said of the new Korn album. "Maybe a little longer songs with longer intros, and a little more math rock, not prog-rocky but maybe some slower tempoed grooves that are 7/8 or 3/4 timing and stuff like that."
"It's about taking chances and going out on a limb," he continued. "You hear a lot of bands say how every album is a chance to reinvent yourself. For us, I really feel like we've gone out on a f-ing plank because sometimes there's no turning back. You have to commit to it and sometimes it's like 'Eh, I don't know,' and you kind of let go and see what happens."
Meanwhile, the band is currently celebrating the 21st birthday of their debut album that brought them to the top of their scene with a celebratory tour, wherein the group would play the entirety of the first record live.
Munky recently talked to NorthJersey.com and talked about the experience of playing and recording their record two decades back.
"We set out to create something that was super raw and emotional with no filter," he said. "We didn't care about being on the radio. None of that mattered. We just wanted to create an album that was pure."
"We're extremely proud of what we created. As the recording process progressed, we realized it wasn't like anything we had heard."
There are currently no plans for a new Korn album but the record might come out anytime next year.
