Raven-Symoné Faces Backlash Shortly After Girlfriend Split: AzMarie Livingston Says 'Don't Compare'

By all accounts, it seems Raven-Symoné has been having a hard time lately. Not only has she split from long-term girlfriend AzMarie Livingston, the TV personality is once again under fire for speaking her mind.

As a new host of "The View," Raven-Symoné spoke on the viral video of Deputy Ben Fields yanking a 16-year-old black girl after refusing to give up her phone.

"The girl was told multiple times to get off the phone," Raven-Symoné said according to New York Post.

"There's no right or reason for him to be doing this type of harm, that's ridiculous. But at the same time, you got to follow the rules in school. This shouldn't even be a problem to begin with, and he shouldn't have been acting like that on top of it."

The incident created much backlash on social media, shortly after her split from AzMarie Livingston, whom she's dated since 2012. According to Us Magazine, the pair have both guest starred on the Fox hit TV series "Empire."

But this is not the first time Raven-Symoné has received criticism for speaking her opinions.

"I'm tired of being labeled," she said during an Oprah interview.

"I'm an American. I'm not an African-American. I'm an American. I have darker skin. I have a nice interesting grade of hair. I connect with Caucasian. I connect with Asian. I connect with black. I connect with Indian. I connect with each culture."

As Oprah predicted, she would soon receive "flak" for the statement.

So far, her former girlfriend appears to be doing well after the split. Livingston has remained positive on Instagram and updates frequently.

"Don't compare your chapter one to someone else's chapter 20," she uploaded on Thursday.
