Al Michaels DUI Arrest: "Do You Believe In Miracles" Broadcaster Spends The Night In Jail [VIDEO]

Al Michaels dui arrest took place Friday night in Santa Monica, Calif.

He was charged with allegedly driving under the influence and had to spend the night in the Santa Monica City Jail. Al Michaels dui cost him five hours of his life behind bars. He was released five hours later, according to the Los Angeles Inmate Information Center.

Sgt. Ryan Gradle said Michaels, the current play-by-play announcer for NBC's "Sunday Night Football," was extremely cooperative and was released on his own recognizance Saturday morning.

Michaels is scheduled to appear at Los Angeles Municipal Court at 8:30 a.m. on June 26.

Al Michaels may be known for his infamous call when U.S.A. defeated the U.S.S.R. to advance to the gold medal game in men's hockey at the 1980's Olympics at Lake Placid, N.Y. As the game was coming to an end and U.S.A. had the game in its hand, he said, "Do you believe in miracles?" Then he answered his own question, yelling, "Yes!"

"When I look back, obviously Lake Placid would be the highlight of my career. I can't think of anything that would ever top it. I can't dream up a scenario," Michaels said of the "Miracle on Ice" call.

Michaels has been a commentator for the NFL since 1986. He has called "Monday Night Football" games and is currently the "Sunday Night Football" broadcaster for NBC.
