Air Force General And His Wife Killed In Plane Crash In Virginia; General Was Piloting The Single-Engine Plane

Air force General Joseph D. Brown and his wife Sue were killed in a plane crash Friday in Virginia. The general was piloting the plane that carried his wife and dog as passengers, when it crashed. Authorities are still investigating the plane crash.

General Brown was flying a single engine Cessna 210 aircraft. Nobody on the ground was injured when the plane crashed, killing the general and his wife. Witnesses that spoke with ABC News said the plane came dangerously close to crashing into homes as it fell from the sky.

"Another 50-feet and they would have been in my bedroom," said witness Bruce Ward to ABC's WVEC-TV.

The Air Force released a statement about the death of General and Sue Brown saying, "We are deeply saddened by the loss of Joe Brown and his wife, Sue."

The statement went on to say, "Joe and Sue dedicated their lives in service to our nation and their loss will be felt across our Air Force and joint team."

The plane crashed near the Williamsburg-Jamestown Airport, where it was supposed to land. The Virginia State Police and officials from the FAA responded quickly to the scene of the plane crash and began an investigation. There is no further information about the plane crash that killed the general and his wife at this time.
