Five Dead After Shooting In Seattle Suburb Apartment Complex; One Shot By Police

Five people were shot in Seattle at an apartment complex and have died.  One man was shot by police, who were responding to a 911 call for help. The incident occurred in Federal Way, Wash., a suburb of Seattle, late on Sunday, April 21.

The man who was shot was one of two wounded men discovered in the parking lot; he produced a weapon as officers approached and they opened fire on him. Of the five people shot, another wounded man was in the parking lot with the man who was shot by police; an additional man was discovered in a ditch, and a man and a woman were found in separate apartments.

Police spokeswoman Cathy Schrock told Seattle television station KOMO that officers responded to a 9:30 P.M. report that shots had been fired at the Pinewood Apartments in Federal Way, about 20 miles outside of Seattle.

"When we arrived, there was a lot of gunfire already being fired and multiple calls, 911 calls of gunfire," Schrock said.

"We're going to continue to go door to door in hopes that we can find some additional witnesses, and hopefully we won't be finding any more victims," Ms Schrock told the AP.

It is unclear how or why the incident began, but the people who were killed appeared to have been involved in a firefight with each other, according to police.
