Widow of Marvin Hamlisch Questions Husband's Death, Files Suit Against Colombia Medical Center

Marvin Hamlisch's widow is questioning the official story surrounding her late husband's death. Hamlisch, 68, a musician and famous Broadway composer, died on August 6, 2012 after a brief illness at UCLA Medical Center. When the Oscar and Grammy-winner passed, mourners around the world regretted the sudden death of the well-loved, dynamic icon.

The official cause of death is listed as respiratory arrest, hypertension and anoxic brain encephalopathy (brain damage due to a lack of oxygen).

Marvin Hamlisch's widow, Terre Blair Hamlisch,  is questioning the official cause of death. She has now filed suit in the Manhattan Supreme Court to force Columbia University Medical Center to turn over the results of blood tests taken shortly before her husband's death.

Representatives for Columbia University have declined to comment on the case.
