Danica Patrick "Shut Up And Race" By Fellow Racer After Sunday's NASCAR Sprint Cup Race At Kansas

Danica Patrick was told to "shut up and drive" after her altercation with David Gilliland Sunday during the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series at Kansas.

Patrick made contact late with Gilliland in the race that she finished 25th and he finished two spots ahead of her. It was still the best performance for the new Sprint Cup racer this season.

"He tries to take me out every time," Patrick said over her in-car radio about Gilliland, a communication that was broadcast on the Fox telecast. "Tell his spotter that I'm coming after him if he does it again. In fact I might just do it right now."

Through a spokesman, Gilliland responded by saying "shut up and race" in the direction toward Patrick.

"It's disappointing because I think we could have had a much better finish with the Go Daddy car, but (trash on the grille) is one of those things that's out of our control," she said in a statement. "The pit crew was awesome."

Even though she was told to just "shut up and race," Danica Patrick was happy with everything besides the trash on the grille and the incident with Gilliland.

"Be proud of yourself," her crew chief Tony Gibson told her over the team radio at the end of the race. "You drove a hell of a race today. You can't do nothing about the grille there, so be proud of yourself. "You hung in there all day. You did a great job on restarts. You had a good car. We know we should have been about 15th. We made some gains, we'll learn and go on."

Matt Kenseth went on to win the race, which is his first victory of the season.
