Justin Bieber Gives Up His Pet Monkey; Mally To Get New Home After Being Confiscated By German Customs Officials

Justin Bieber appears to be lacking paternal instincts.

Mere weeks after reportedly being devastated that his pet monkey Mally was confiscated by customs officers in Germany, Bieber has decided he no longer wants the baby animal. He had until May 17 to claim the monkey, but his management team have reportedly contacted authorities in Munich to find a "safe and sheltered place, or a zoo" for Mally.

Last month, Bieber went bananas after bringing Mally on a flight from LA to Munich, without filing any sort of paperwork to legally have the animal in the country. Once he landed, German officials immediately seized Mally since it was a clear violation of the country's health laws.

Mally has since been in the care of vets at a clinic in the city. Franz Bohmer of the Bonn Federal Office For Nature Conservation said that if Bieber submits a written disclaimer giving up ownership of the family, the monkey can be placed in a welfare family group in a local zoo.

"A baby monkey was never going to be suited on a world tour even if he is traveling by private jet," said Karl Heinz Joachim, the boss of the animal center where Mally is staying. "He should be out in the wild climbing trees and learning from other monkeys if he isn't to have serious psychological problems later in life. The baby monkey needs company and to be with other monkeys at this crucial age."

Customs officials aren't the only ones accusing Bieber of neglect. His grandfather, George, claims that Justin has not helped him financially despite his failing health. The Sun reports that George is sleeping on a dirty mattress in a broken cabin and too ill to even walk upstairs, but hasn't spoken to his famous grandson since Christmas.

"Justin might be worth $100 million but we certainly haven't seen a penny of it," said George. "It's hard to imagine the money Justin has, as it's about as far removed from our life as you could get."

Both Bieber and his reps declined to comment on the accusation.
