14-Year-Old Burger Found: Utah Man Declined $5,000 Offer Made By Radio DJ Who Wanted To Eat It

A 14-year-old burger was found in a man's closet in Utah, and the same man declined a $5,000 offer for it.

David Whipple said on the television show "The Doctors" that he originally purchased the 14-year-old burger in 1999. He said that he didn't keep the burger for such a long time on purpose, but left it in his closet by mistake.

"I was showing some people how enzymes work and I thought a hamburger would be a good idea," he said, according to the Daily Mail. "And I used it for a month and then I forgot about it."

According to the Daily Mail, the 14-year-old burger didn't have any signs of mold or anything that would make it inedible. The episode of "The Doctors" showed that the pickle that was originally on the burger had disappeared into the top bun, which remained in tact.

Whipple, who lives in Logan, Utah, said he and his wife recently pulled the 14-year-old burger out of the closet upon finding it.

A DJ offered Whipple $5,000 for the 14-year-old burger. The DJ claimed he was going to heat up the burger and eat it. Whipple declined the offer, and now uses the burger to encourage his grandchildren to eat healthy.

"It's great for my grand-kids to see-To see what happens with fast food," he said on the T.V. show.

The original receipt said the hamburger cost $0.79.
