Jason Segel Confirms Book Deal For ‘Nightmares!’ Series; ‘Muppets’ Actor “Couldn’t Be More Excited”

Jason Segel has made his first major book deal. The Muppets and Forgetting Sarah Marshall actor has sold his first book, titled "Nightmares!" to Random House Children's Books. Segel's book deal is for is a middle-grade fiction series that he will write with bestselling author Kristen Miller, who wrote "The Eternal Ones," according to Deadline.

The deal was with Segal's representatives made by Random House Children's Books president/publisher Barbara Marcus and the Delacorte Press Books For Young Readers Vice President and Publisher Beverly Horowitz.

Segel's book "Nightmares!" will be an adventure story about a group of children who realize that they have to save their town from fear. But not just any fear - fear that has manifested itself in nightmarish monsters that invade the real world.

Segel allegedly first came up with the plot idea as a movie project and even wrote a screenplay. When the screenplay wasn't picked up, Segel took it back and adapted it into a book.

This is Segel's first book deal. He in a statement, "I couldn't be more excited that Nightmares! Has found a home at Random House. Ultimately, it's a story about learning that we can accomplish anything, as long as we are brave enough to try. These are the types of stories that always inspired me."

Marcus, the Random House Children's Books president, added, "Jason Segel has the perfect voice to write for children. Nightmares! is inventive, genuine, and relatable to middle-grade readers. We're thrilled to see Jason's creative vision translated to the page, and can't wait to introduce him to the publishing world as a tremendous new talent."

The first "Nightmare!" book in the series will be published in the fall of 2014.
