Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson Won't Let Emergency Surgery Keep Him From His Next Movie Role

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson had to undergo emergency surgery for an injury sustained during his April 7 WrestleMania match against John Cena.

The day after Dwayne Johnson lost his WWE title to John Cena, he let his fans know via Instagram that he had to have surgery to repair his abductor muscles, which were pulled off the bone during the match.

Dwayne Johnson let his fans know about his first surgery by posting a photo of himself as 'The Rock' slamming John Cena to the mat with his classic move, the "Rock Bottom." In the caption next to the photo Dwayne Johnson writes,

"Sometimes we pay the price... Midway thru my Wrestlemania match I tore my Abdominal & Adductor tendons off my pelvis. Yup, that sh-t hurt;). Thank U Dr Lee Kaplan & Univ of Miami medical staff & THANK YOU to the fans for all the love/well wishes! Rehab starts in 3..2..#bringit."

The WWE superstar and action movie hero did not expect his rehab to be halted by another emergency. Dwayne Johnson had emergency hernia surgery Monday night. The recovery forced him to miss the premier of his new movie directed by Michael Bay, "Pain and Gain."

"Pain and Gain" stars Dwayne Johnson and Mark Walberg. According to IMDB.com the film is about "A trio of bodybuilders in Florida [that] gets caught up in an extortion ring and a kidnapping scheme that goes terribly wrong."

"Pain and Gain" also stars Rebel Wilson, Ken Jeong, Ed Harris and Tony Shalhoub. The film will be released nationwide on Friday.

On the red carpet, director Michael Bay joked with the media about why Dwayne Johnson was not attending the premier.  "Dwayne's hurt tonight. He was pushing it too hard. He needs to grow up and stop wrestling 300-pound men."

Dwayne Johnson may have had emergency surgery but he will be back pushing himself to the extremes in his new film "Hercules: The Thracian Wars."

On April 13 Dwayne Johnson posted an update about his injuries before having to have emergency surgery. In his update he told fans he was getting ready for his new role and ready to film.

"Injury update: Dr's & I elected not to reattach tendons to my pelvis. They'll just scar up. Now I prep to shoot HERCULES"

According to IMDB, Johnson's new film will be released in 2014. There is no word on whether or not his emergency surgery will slow down filming.

Here is a brief plot summary of "Hercules: The Thracian Wars," from IMDB,

"Fourteen hundred years ago, a tormented soul walked the earth that was neither man nor god. Hercules was the powerful son of the god king Zeus, for this he received nothing but suffering his entire life. After twelve arduous labors and the loss of his family, this dark, world-weary soul turned his back on the gods finding his only solace in bloody battle. Over the years he warmed to the company of six similar souls, their only bond being their love of fighting and presence of death."
