A huge egg $1,101,813 elephant bird: That's what is trending on Wednesday. More than double the original predicted price was spent on this egg.

Somebody won an elephant bird egg in an auction Wednesday. This egg is the rarest kind of egg in the world and was auctioned off at the Christie Auction House in London for over a million dollars.

James Hyslop works for Christie's Auction House in London told Examiner that the huge egg $101,813 elephant bird worth is from the elephant bird, and it is one of the most expensive and rarest in the world. It was estimated to go for $30,000 to $45,000, but there were 10 minutes bidding that exceeded those numbers substantially.

"The elephant bird. It's easiest to think of it as an overgrown ostrich. It's the largest bird to walk the earth," Hyslop told Examiner.

Christie's Auction House wrote about the huge egg $101,813 elephant bird: "The Elephant Bird was thought to be the giant flying beast known as the Roc (or Ruhk) in the tales of Sinbad and accounts of Marco Polo's voyages. The bird grew to around 10 or 11 feet in height and whilst probably unable to devour an elephant, as the Roc was reputed to do, it certainly was the largest bird ever to have lived. It was estimated to weigh up to 1100 lbs ... The birds are thought to have gone extinct between the 14th and 17th centuries."
