Channing Tatum Says He’s "Extreme"; In Talks For New Role In 'Guys And Dolls'; May Take Time Off To Raise New Baby

Channing Tatum and Joseph Gordon Levitt may team up for a remake of "Guys and Dolls." On Wednesday, Deadline reported that Fox has acquired the rights to the classic musical, and they plan to cast Channing Tatum and Joseph Gordon Levitt, the "Dark Night Rises" star.

Tatum and Levitt have big shoes to fill -- the roles the actors would take were portrayed by Frank Sinatra and Marlon Brando in the classic 1955 film that will serve as the basis for the upcoming flick.

Channing Tatum said in an interview recently that he is extreme and "doesn't know moderation", but that he's learned to embrace it. He said, "I've learned to embrace that I'm a bit of an extremist. If I'm working, I'm really working hard. If I'm on vacation, everyone better look out. I don't know moderation."

Nothing's certain yet about his possible role in "Guys and Dolls", though. Channing Tatum, 32, said recently that he may take a break from acting to focus on directing. His wife, Jenna Dewan, said that their relationship will always come before their careers - and she's now pregnant with their first child. That might be all the more reason for Tatum to take some time off.

Dewan said,"Most actors and actresses are consumed by careers and getting ahead. Channing and I are ambitious, but our relationship comes first. We take everything day by day, saying, 'OK, how can we make this work together?'"

Joseph Gordon Levitt may be a tough sell for "Guys and Dolls" as well, because last year, he said he picks his roles based on the script and the filmmaker. If it's a great script and a great filmmaker, then I'm interested," he said. "Guys and Dolls" doesn't yet have either.

However, if both end up being cast for "Guys and Dolls", it wouldn't be the first time Tatum and Gordon Levitt have worked together - they were both in "G.I. Joe: The Rise of the Cobra" and Tatum had a cameo appearance in Gordon-Levitt's soon-to-be-released directorial debut, "Don Jon."
