Bus Crash Kills 30 In Afghanistan: Number Raised To 45 Dead, 10 Injured After Bus Collided With A Battered Oil Tanker

A bus crash kills 30 people, according to initial news reports.  The bus crash casualties have been raised to 45 people dead. The crash occurred on Friday, when a bus collided with the wreckage of a truck that had been attacked by Taliban insurgents in southern Afghanistan.

The battered oil tanker had been left in the middle of a narrow road near the border of Kandahar and Helmand provinces for several days after insurgents attacked it, which led to the tragic news - "bus crash kills 30." Police told the Associated Press (AP) that the number of dead due to the bus crash has been rasied to 45. Police considered the area too dangerous to enter, the officials said.

The bus crash that was first reported as killing 30, which according to officials is now up to 45, injured 10 others. One of the injured aboard the bus was Mohammad Habib. He was on the bus with his brother, who could have died from the burns. His body hasn't yet been identified.

 "I don't care about my belongings and money that were burned inside the bus, but please help me find my brother, dead or alive," he told AP Television News. "How will I face my mother without him?

The bus began its journey in the capital of Helmand province and was to stop in Kandahar city, and then travel north to Kabul, the Afghan capital, Abdul Razaq, the provincial police chief of Kandahar said.

Afghanistan roads are considered one of the worst roadways in the world and accidents leading to deaths are common.

Police arrested about 10 insurgents on Thursday and Friday in four provinces of Afghanistan, including several Taliban fighters in Kandahar, the International Security Assistance Force said in a statement.
