I'm Loving It! McDonald's Considers All-Day Breakfast Menu; Fast Food Chain Also Joining Burger King In Considering Delivery Options

Just two days after Burger King announced plans to include delivery options in three major U.S. cities, McDonald's has announced that it is considering making their breakfast menu and Egg McMuffins available all day. In addition to an all-day breakfast menu, they are also considering delivery options in select markets and offering reward plans for frequent diners at McDonald's.

McDonald's President and CEO Don Thompson confirmed to CNBC that delivery services are already being tested overseas and in select U.S. cities that he declined to name.

"I think we'll be seeing some of those things in the near future," he said.

In addition, financial blog Seeking Alpha reported that new menu items will be added to McDonald's restaurants in the U.S., many of which are already included on menu items throughout the world. Some of these include Egg White Delight, a lower calorie breakfast item; Premium McWraps, an innovation from Europe that is being introduced globally; and Blueberry Pomegranate Smoothies, which originated in Canada. The blog also confirmed that approximately 20 percent of their restaurants are currently offering some form of delivery service.

However, the concept of all-day breakfast menus is hardly breaking new ground for McDonald's. They toyed with the idea back in 2006, but never moved forward with it.

Earlier this week, Burger King confirmed that they are now offering delivery services at select restaurants in Los Angeles, Chicago and San Francisco. Burger King already offered the delivery option in four other U.S. cities as of last year, including New York City and Houston.

The franchise says 20 restaurants will offer the delivery option in both L.A. and Chicago, while 15 will offer it in San Francisco. However, this accounts for only a small percentage of the 7,500 Burger King restaurants in North America.

Customers can place orders online or by phone between 11 a.m. and 10 p.m. and orders must be a minimum of $10.
