9-Year-Old Killed By Intruder In Valley Springs, Calif.: Police On The Look For Six-Foot, Hispanic Male Who Allegedly Stabbed The Young Girl

A 9-year-old killed by intruder in Northern California when a man allegedly stabbed her to death Sunday.

The 9-year-old killed by intruder took place when her parents weren't home and the man allegedly broke into the home, stabbing the girl and fleeing, according to the girl's brother at the Valley Springs home. The brother and the 9-year-old killed by intruder spotted the man on their property. The brother called 911 and his parents, but noticed after that his sister was dead.

The alleged killer was described as a white or Hispanic male, around 6-feet-tall and with a muscular build. He had long, gray hair and was last seen wearing a black long shirt and blue pants. The suspect is considered armed and dangerous, according to a news release from the Calaveras County Sheriff's Department.

"We were doing a house-to-house search and in some cases were searching attics and storages," Calaveras County Sheriff's Capt. Jim Macedo said Saturday, reported the New York Daily News. "It's a difficult area to search. It's rural, it's remote."

The 9-year-old killed by intruder incident in Valley Springs has cause police to search the area and beyond. Macedo added that authorities are "searching extensively into attics and storage sheds," reported KTVU.

"It's hard to even imagine how somebody could do that," neighbor Mike Harris told CBS News.
