Psy Awarded in New York City At Annual Tribeca Film Festival

Psy received a great honor this past Friday at the annual Tribeca Film Festival's Disruptive Innovation Awards.

He was given the award for the hit song and video for "Gangnam Style" which created an international craze.

The superstar appeared wearing a stylish black suit and white dress shirt and captivate the audience with his self-effacing comments.

"Who knew, right? Giving me this award in itself is innovation, I think. I cannot believe what happened right now," the Korean rapper said upon receiving his award. "I applied to this school in 1996, but I failed. Finally, I entered this building this morning."

The Disruptive Innovation Awards are presented by New York University each year in conjunction with the popular and star-studded Tribeca Film Festival in New York City.

Mentioning that he has been working in music for well over a decade in South Korea, Psy went on to say, "I'm still figuring out the reason for this happening like this."

His global hit song "Gangnam Style" (and accompanying horse dance move) broke records and made an undeniable impact on the world.

He joked around with the audience, "I don't want to say this but, it's kind of embarrassing, but... maybe, am I handsome?" to which the crowd relied with applause and cheers.

Other Disruptive Innovation Award winners this year included conservative social and political commentator Glenn Beck, fashion designer Norma Kamali, and Twyla Tharp, the famed choreographer who was bestowed with the Lifetime Achievement Award.

Psy is currently in the United States promoting his latests single and "Gangnam Style" follow-up, "Gentleman."
