Three More Boston Bombing Suspects Taken Into Custody

Police have reported that three more Boston bombing suspects were taken into custody today. Few details have emerged about who was taken into custody and their possible connection to the attack during the Boston marathon on April 15th, but reports suggest that they went to college with Dzhokhar Tsarnaev and that two of the three arrested were from Kazakhstan.

According to Boston Police, three arrests were made of additional Boston bombing suspects this morning, and details are "to follow".  Authorities earlier suggested that the Tsarnaev brothers, the current suspects, are believed to have worked alone.

A law enforcement source close to the investigation reported that two students from New Bedford, Massachusetts, were arrested, according to one report. The source said charges included making false statements to investigators and conspiracy to obstruct justice.

The charges may not be related to the bombing, said Alan Dershowitz, a defense attorney and Harvard law professor. "If they knew about the bombing, if they were involved in the bombing, the charges would be conspiracy to do the acts for which the other man has already been charged," Dershowitz said to CNN. "So it sounds like at this point in time the only evidence they have is actions that took place after the bombing."

Initial, unconfirmed reports suggest that the students who now face charges went to college with Dzhokhar Tsarnaev. A different inside source said that the students were already in custody due to immigration violations and were originally from Kazakhstan; the third is a US citizen.

The AP reported after the arrests Wednesday morning, "In a tweet Wednesday morning, the police department says only that three more suspects are in custody and more details will follow. Police spokeswoman Cheryl Fiandaca confirmed the tweet but referred all other questions to the FBI."

The Boston Police department posted, "Please be [advised] that there is not threat to public safety. Three additional suspects have been taken into custody in connection to the attack on the Boston Marathon. Aside from the aforementioned, there is no additional info to release at this time. Additional details will be provided when they become available. No info available at this time relative to a press conference."
