Janelle Monae Premieres ‘Q.U.E.E.N.’ Music Video Featuring Erykah Badu On Twitter, 106 & Park [VIDEO]

Janelle Monae premiered her new music video for 'Q.U.E.E.N' featuring Erykah Badu on May 1. Forward-thinking Janelle Monae announced the music video's premiere on her twitter account.

The MV takes place in an alternate future that features Monae and her friends as exhibits in a living museum. It appears that they are imprisoned in the museum because she and her musicians keep attempting to undermine authority through music and art.

Janelle Monae's 'Q.U.E.E.N.' video was directed by Alan Fergusen, who directed the clip for 'Many Moons'. Fergusen has also directed clips for Beyonce, Katy Perry and Fall Out Boy, according to Entertainment Weekly.

Monae tweeted about working with Ferguson, "Q.U.E.E.N. was directed by Alan Ferguson who also directed my very first video 'Many Moons.' He is family. Brilliant."

Janelle Monae stars as herself in the video, while Erykah Badu is 'Badoula Oblongata.'

The 27-year-old singer premiered the video for 'Q.U.E.E.N,' off of her album The Electric Lady, on BET's 106 & Park in New York City.

Janelle Monae wrote on Twitter, "All the beautiful women dancing in 'Q.U.E.E.N.' are my real friends. That's how we get down when no one is filming! Love them! #Funlittlefact."

Janelle Monae is a R&B and soul musician, composer and record producer for Atlantic Records and Bad Boy Records. Monae's album The ArchAndroid was critically acclaimed and nominated for Best Contemporary R&B Album Grammy Award. Her single "Tightrope" off the album was a hit, and nominated at the same Grammy awards for Best Urban/Alternative Performance.

More recently, Monae was featured on the fun. Single "We Are Young," which reached number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

The Electric Lady album doesn't have an official release date yet.
