Warren Buffett Joins Twitter, Worlds Collide

Warren Buffett has joined Twitter. The mogul finally joined Twitter and got the verified checkmark on his @warrenbuffet account.

Warren Buffet's first tweet read, "Warren is in the house."

Buffet posted the tweet while being interviewed at University of Nebraska Omaha by Fortune's Pattie Sellers. The interview was touted as his first-ever to incorporate social media.

There are already tons of false Warren Buffett handle accounts on Twitter, some of which have almost-believable followings: @W_Buffett has over 100,000 followers; @BuffettInvestor has almost 35,000. Which makes sense - aside from being an incredibly influential businessman, he's known for his terse one-liners, which would be perfect for Twitter. Examples include gems like "Noble intentions should be checked periodically against results" and "Rule No.1: Never lose money. Rule No.2: Never forget rule No.1."

Sellers asked if he understood Twitter, and Buffett said "so-so" but noted that the co-founder came from Nebraska. After he tweeted for the first time, Buffett joked "Who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks?"

Buffett is an investment mogul at Berkshire-Hathaway often referred to as the 'Oracle of Omaha'. Apparently, he's not great with technology and doesn't know how to check his voicemail...but he's catching up to the times. At the time of this writing, Warren Buffett already has 40,000 followers. His first Tweet was an hour and a half ago.
