Nicki Minaj Slams Carey; American Idol Host Calls Mariah Carey "Insecure And Bitter" [VIDEO]

The American Idol judges are at it again, when Nicki Minaj slams Mariah Carey on Twitter. The two American Idol hosts have bickered in the past, but when rumors surfaced that host, Mariah Carey, was being replaced by former judge, Jennifer Lopez, Minaj took to Twitter to offer her own thoughts on the judging controversey, reports The Hollywood Reporter.

First, she took the opportunity to provide a backhanded compliment Carey's way about all the number 1 hits she's had in her career not amounting to much on the popular Fox singing show, "All dem #1s but JLo phone ringin? Lol. I guess having a personality, being a secure woman, and giving genuine critique still trumps that."

That's when Minaj took aim at Carey directly and unleashed the vitiriol without holding much back.

"Asking why a woman SO successful at her age, is still so INSECURE, and bitter," wrote Minaj on her Twitter page yesterday.

When season 12 premiered in January this year, judges Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez, had left the show after two seasons as hosts alongside Randy Jackson and Keith Urban. In their place, Fox hired seemingly discordant artists, Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey. The two musicians immediately clashed, with TMZ releasing a video of the two cursing each other out during a stop in Charlotte during American Idol auditions in November of 2012.

Aside from the rumors, what could have incited Minaj's Twitter rant?

It could be a comment from Carey on Wednesday's Idol. While the Glitter diva was critiquing contestant, Angie Miller, Minaj interrupted to argue with Carey's feedback. This caused Carey to point her finger at Minaj and slam the rapping rapscallion for not having ever had a #1 single on Billboard's charts.

THR reported a rumor a couple weeks ago that Fox executives were looking to replace Carey on the show with former Idol judge, J-Lo. Since Carey and Minaj have joined the show, American Idol has seen their ratings first plateau and then drop as competition from NBC's The Voice, which stars hosts Adam Levine, Usher, Shakira and Blake Shelton.

Yesterday, Carey cryptically tweeted "can't..[sic]," but it's unclear whether she was responding to Minaj's Twitter jabs.
